I thought the whole thing stunk as well TBH…

Seeing some of the stupid money is being thrown around and suddenly Barclay quietly goes to Chelsea for a knock down fee???

Not sure what has gone on but im not surprised questions are being asked.

Re: Ross Barkley transfer referred to police
What is different to this transfer than any other transfer at the end of their contract?

He runs down his contract and the club get less money and he gets a massive signing on fee. Is that any different to Messi getting a £50 million thank you payment for signing his last football contract?

Is it any different or Sanchez or Ozil? Its commonly known in football that a footballer with no contract can negotiate a large signing on fee and higher wages as the club receiving his services doesn't have to pay a massive fee.

I think that what is different about this one is that Barkley turned down a £35m move to Chelsea in the summer.

He's then out injured for 6 months and then gets a big signing on fee because Chelsea have just saved £20m on teh purchase price. Not sure there's anything that can be done mind.

Bitter Everton fan. It is not fraud for a player to run down their contract so that they can get a better deal financially from another club.

Remove this fat buffoon as Mayor of Liverpool and appoint Pat Phelan from Corrie.

Re: Ross Barkley transfer referred to police
That Mayor is not at all typical of Scousers is he?

Gavros 1:01 Wed Jan 10
Re: Ross Barkley transfer referred to police
He's a mouthy ex publican who even scousers are embarrassed of.

Everton's new stadium is being financed with a Liverpool Council underwrite which will save the club in fortunes in interest payments (yes this is technically illegal but no one will complain). As such, Anderson is now thinking he can have a say at what goes on at the club.

Re: Ross Barkley transfer referred to police
The whole deal fucking stinks to be fair but not sure what chelsea have done. Everton would have done the same thing.

Does that constitute state aid?

If so, better tell Charlton Athletic

Re: Ross Barkley transfer referred to police
I'm surprised he went in January rather than go on a free in the summer.

Can only assume he's concerned about getting his place back for the World Cup so moved now. Not that he will sitting on Chelsea's bench between now and May.

Re: Ross Barkley transfer referred to police
If a player is under contract he is entitled to refuse a transfer to another club.
When Chelsea come back and offer £15m Everton are entitled to turn it down.

Everything else is just a high pitched whining Scouse sound

Gavros 1:09 Wed Jan 10
Re: Ross Barkley transfer referred to police
Yes, it does. The argument would be (as with Newham- West Ham) that any offer which aids a private organisation should go to tender first to establish best value for the public.

Actually, is that load of old cobblers still rumbling on or have they forgotten about it?

Gavros 1:27 Wed Jan 10
Re: Ross Barkley transfer referred to police
The GLA is trying to get West Ham to come back to the table using the leverage of the colour of the 'carpet' around the pitch and raising the attendance.

Good luck with that.
